The source of true knowledge

Well the moon has visited the Pushya or Poosam constellation known as Delta Cancri in English today. It also happens to be a Thursday .This combination and occurrence is considered auspicious. This is also the right time to appease the Lord of all knowledge Dakshinamoorthy. He is an aspect of Lord Shiva ,a personification of knowledge. He is dispeller of ignorance and bestower of wisdom. He sits facing the south under the banyan tree with a jnana mudra. It was a pleasure to watch the abhishegam and archanai after understanding the nuances of his being.Salutations to this divine exponent.

The fount of true knowledge

After the pooja we had konda kadalai and panchamritham as prasad.

  3. It reminds me of my visit to Navgrah Temple, in Gauhati Assam in the Eighties, much after I had visited Kamakhya Temple there on top of another hill on the banks of River Brahmaputra. It had under a domed roof nine shivlingas arranged along a circle: The central one being bigger in dimensions while the eight others were all equsl, but relatively were smaller in size, representing the nine numbers selected members of the solar system as controllers or rulers of one particular direction each...The priest told me how as per the legend the tample is believed to have been constructed by Brahma Himself! And that while setting up the city, called Pragjyotishpur, He taught the people the art or science of Astrology ('Jyotish')...I could realise how heirarchy was reflected and highest pedestal was perhaps given to Moon (that evolved from earth itself), as the controller of North direction and bestower of 'Supreme Knowledge' (Hindus advocated worship of idol of the deity while facing either East, where Sun rises, indicating strt of acquisition of knowledge; or North, where the fixed or polar star is seen and, therefore, the directions are identified easily...
